La Cochonaille

I usually eat here at least once when I’m in Paris. It’s not the best, or poshest, but it’s a decent place to eat and watch the people out for a stroll, just round the corner from the Boulevard St. Michelle. If you’re lucky, you might be entertained by a street musician.

Restaurant Pascal

This was taken on film, in 1980. I originally took it because of the name of the restaurant, and I had been learning the Pascal programming language at the time. But I still like it, for entirely different reasons. Why is the girl alone? Does she go in? Is she waiting for someone? It just seems to me very evocative. Originally in colour, I think it looks more mysterious in B & W. I think the Restaurant Pascal is now the Sahara Cafe in the Rue Du Jardinet.

This is one of several I took when the snow was to heavy to go to work. It was taken from a main road not far from where I was living at the time. I was only out and about for an hour or two, but did get very cold. Its one of the photos I have on the wall in my house.

My favourite bass player. I’ve played guitar since I was about 10, but seeing Marcus at the Juan Les Pins jazz festival inspired me to swap to bass guitar. Here he is, giving it some welly!

I was actually at a corporate job, taking photos in a portable studio and printing on site, when Tim Minchin came on as a Cabaret “turn”. A very talented and funny man.

One of several I’ve taken in the bluebell woods in Everdon, Northamptonshire. Always a lovely show.
